The cylinder heads from 1955 through 1974 are all heavy castings. Chevrolet started producing light castings in 1975. If you look at the head in Fig. 10.12, the RED "A" points to the straight edge of the heavy casting head as compared to the RED "B" in Fig. 10.13 where there is material removed along the edge.
