The easiest way to identify these crankshafts is from the shape of the flywheel flange counter weight. The 3.000-inch crankshaft is easy to identify and it was only available in the 1968-69 Z-28 302. There are forging marks on the front arm "A". The weights all have square edges and the flywheel flange is round "B". The 3.250-inch crankshaft has a small rib on the front arm "C" and a some what round flywheel flange with a small counter weight "D" added. The 3.480-inch crankshaft has a large rib "E" on the front arm and a square looking flywheel flange weight "G". The counter weight edges "F" on the 3.250 and 3.480-inch crankshafts are tapered for piston skirt clearance. |
