If using a 265-cid block either make sure you have the oiling slots on the rear cam journal or machine the block, or else there will be no oil to the lifters, rockers etc. Also the cam bearing for the rear journal on the early 1955-56 265-CID blocks are different than the later blocks. Bearings can be used in the earlier block if they are modified, See Fig. 38.1 The single hole in the bearing can be filed into a 1/2-inch slot. When installed into the block make sure the two holes in the block are connected by the slot.
