NOTE: SAE 30 @ 230 F. Oil pump turns at half engine speed. A good rule of thumb is 10 PSI for every 1000 RPM.

NOTE: Aircraft or other ashless H.P. oil. An ashless additive is specified to prevent pre-ignition.

OIL TEMPERATURE:

 Between 150 and 270 F

CYLINDER HEAD GASKET:

 0.018-inch approx.

Steel shim with raised beads. For stock and mild modified.

STAINLESS STEEL SHIM:

 0.017-inch

Designed similar to production except for the material. Recommended for HIGH PERFORMANCE racing engines and marine use where Maximum power is not used for long periods

STAINLESS COMPOSITION:

 0.039-inch

Constructed of two layers of stainless with composition material between. Suitable for racing and marine use. Use on 4 and 4-1/8-inch bore blocks.

 

NOTE: All head gaskets should be installed with a commercial head gasket sealer. High compression engines may benefit by using aluminum paint for a gasket sealer. Steel shim gaskets do not need retorquing but all sandwich and composition gaskets should be retorqued HOT or COLD or as specified by the manufacturer .
