Introduced in 1962, the production of this block required a lot of pattern changes at the factory. The biggest change was the underside of the block where the bore meets the crankcase area. This was relieved to clear the longer stroke of the 327-CID stroke. The 327-CID was achieved by increasing the bore to 4.001-inch and increasing the stroke to 3.25-inch. The 327-CID engine was upgraded in 1968 with larger rod and main bearing sizes. This engine was dropped at the end of 1969. The max bore for the 327-CID is 0.040-inch |
