Introduced in 1968 it was the replacement for the 283-CID. It had the same 3.875-inch bore as the 283-CID and a stroke of 3.25-inch which is the same as the 327-CID. It was dropped in 1973. This block can be bored 0.125-inch with a failure rate of about 1 in 10 due to porosity in the cylinder walls. The 307-CID block is notched at the bottom of the cylinders to give rod clearance for the 3.48-inch crankshaft. |
