Introduced in 1976 it was the replacement for the 262-CID. It has an odd bore size of 3.736-inch and the same stroke 3.48-inch which is the same as the 350-CID engine. The 350 and the 305 used the saame stroke but the cranks are not alike. The 305 crankshaft has lighter counter weights, so you would have to add metal to the crankshaft to use it in a 350. The Bore was changed to 3.74-inch in 1985. This combination provided good power, torque and emission levels. The max bore for this block is 0.060-inch. All blocks bored over .040 should be sonic tested.
